Terraform Campaign, Legendary Contracts & a Smoother Mars

A new endgame campaign replaces open-ended Prestige, with ten more colony levels, rare Legendary Contracts, and a performance pass for larger settlements.

The map now has a bigger role in the road to a living Mars.

Hey everyone! This is a big one. The old open-ended Prestige loop is being retired in favor of something with a clearer finish line: the Terraform Campaign. It takes the colony you have already built and gives it a longer-term purpose—helping turn Mars green.

Prestige Becomes the Terraform Campaign

Completing Level 30 and starting a new colony now adds 10% Terraform Index. Reach 100% and Phase 1 is complete. At that point, your final colony stays right where it is; there is no forced reset after the campaign is finished.

Every 10% milestone makes future colonies a little more capable: survey costs fall by 5% and market sale values rise by 10%. At the larger milestones, major building targets also increase, so the goal is to grow the campaign without turning it into an endless reset treadmill.

If you already earned Prestige progress, it has been converted automatically into Terraform Index. Your active colony is safe and continues as normal.

Levels 21–30: Building a Living Mars

The campaign extends the colony path from Level 20 to Level 30. The new stretch is about creating the systems that make terraforming possible: make Growth Medium, cultivate Biomass and Pioneer Seedlings, then build a connected canopy along the new Meltwater Channels.

  • Soil Synthesizer arrives at Level 21 to produce Growth Medium.
  • Algae Basins arrive at Level 22 and can be built directly on Meltwater Channels to grow Biomass.
  • Seed Labs unlock at Level 24, while Canopy Seeders arrive at Level 26 on plains beside a channel.
  • The Biosphere Relay unlocks at Level 29 and closes out the Level 30 finale.

Meltwater Channels begin beyond the early landing area, so late-game expansion is now about more than finding another ordinary build tile. Follow a channel, protect the area with Outposts, and build the biological supply chain around it.

Legendary Contracts

Mission Control can now surface a rare Legendary Contract. These are the orange contracts: they appear with a 1.5% base chance, are five times the scale of a Large contract, and are worth 30 Contract Points. Delivery versions also pay their normal resource reward.

They are intentionally uncommon, but players who want to hunt them can unlock the Legendary Contract Signal upgrade at Level 17 to improve the odds. Legendary Contracts are limited to delivery and surveying objectives, keeping them big, readable goals rather than a long list of chores.

Smoother Larger Colonies

I also spent time on the less visible work: keeping a busy colony responsive. The game now reuses more of its production, power, and map-rendering calculations instead of rebuilding them repeatedly. In plain terms, scrolling around and managing a developed colony should feel smoother, especially once you have a lot of buildings and Outposts on the map.

There are plenty of small balance and reliability fixes alongside these headline changes, but this update is really about giving the late game a destination. Thanks for playing and for helping shape what Phase 2 becomes. Happy colonizing!
