Hey everyone! I've been busy compiling the game for Android, cleaning up the audio engine, and sorting out mid-game resource pacing. This update brings full Android support, copper mining, a transition to high-efficiency MP3 audio, and more flexibility in colony building.
Android Support & Fullscreen Mode
I've successfully compiled the game for Android using Capacitor! To make it feel like a real native app, it runs in immersive fullscreen mode (hiding the status and navigation bars). I've also tuned the viewport scaling so it renders cleanly across all screen aspect ratios, and added platform overrides so the Android client connects directly to our production server.
Copper Mining & Canyon Crevices
If you've reached Level 15, you probably noticed copper trace deposits were sitting on the map with no way to mine them. That's fixed! You can now build the new Copper Extractor on Canyon Crevices and copper trace deposits. These extractors produce Copper Ingots, which are essential for manufacturing electrical circuits in the mid-game.
Terrain Clearing
Those annoying rough terrain overlays that block construction are no longer permanent. You can now spend
2,000 Gold to clear them, converting the tile into a Rich Regolith deposit. Clearing rough ground
features a custom particle explosion animation and a satisfying sound effect.
Zoning Restraints & Relic Wildcards
I've added some adjustments to how build zones and adjacencies interact:
- Wildcard Relics: Ancient Relics now count as matching neighbors for any adjacent production building. This is a huge buff for optimizing complex setups-positioning your factories next to relics will now directly boost their output!
- Strict Heavy Industry: Heavy factories, storage units, and power generators can no longer be built outside protected build zones. Only extractors and outposts can be built out in the open (which are still exposed to hourly storms and cost 5x as much).
Offline Progress Upgrades
The colony away screen got a facelift! It now shows exact away ticks, demonstrating how your colony runs while you're offline. Plus, there are three new upgrades-Remote Operations, Remote Operations II, and Shift Handoff Protocols-to extend away limits and full-speed duration.
UI Polish and Commander Naming
I've made a few interface improvements to wrap up the patch:
- Commander Naming Prompt: When you start, Nova will prompt you to set your commander name. It will auto-fill with a random name, and then save locally and queue for server sync.
- Pause Indicators: Paused buildings will now display a pause icon directly on the map so you can see what's offline at a glance.
Let me know what you think of the new features!
